About Me

Technical support engineer turned web developer with a focus on practical solutions, performance, and user experience.

My Journey

I'm Shay Henderson, a developer with a background rooted in real-world technical support and infrastructure management. Before moving into web development, I spent years as a support analyst diagnosing and resolving issues across Windows environments, networks, and cloud-based systems.

I was responsible for deploying and maintaining servers, managing Active Directory and domain controllers, configuring broadband and DNS, handling email infrastructure like Microsoft Exchange, and supporting cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure. I also worked across a range of line-of-business software, ensuring performance and reliability across systems that teams relied on every day.

This hands-on experience gave me a deep understanding of how technology fits together, from physical machines to cloud services, and taught me how to solve problems under pressure.

As I transitioned into web development, I brought that same mindset with me—prioritizing reliability, maintainability, and real-world usability. I now work with tools like Astro, React, and Tailwind CSS, and contribute to large-scale projects such as the JPG Store frontend.

I've also worked on AI-powered support flows, migrated ticketing systems, and helped shape user-facing documentation. My goal is to build applications and tools that are practical, intuitive, and scalable, while continuing to bridge the gap between infrastructure and user experience.

My Approach

Problem-Solving from the Ground Up

Years of frontline technical support taught me to identify root causes quickly and build solutions that address real, recurring issues. Every project starts with understanding the environment, the users, and the problem itself.

Performance with Practicality

I build applications that are not only optimized for speed and reliability, but also grounded in real-world infrastructure constraints. From UI responsiveness to backend stability, I focus on practical, scalable outcomes.

Sustainable Code & Documentation

I care about writing clean, maintainable code. But also about documenting it clearly. Whether it's an internal tool or a public-facing platform, I prioritize long-term readability and ease of handoff.

Support-Oriented Design Thinking

I bring a user support mindset to development. My decisions are shaped by how real users interact with systems, making sure interfaces are intuitive, accessible, and backed by helpful support when needed.
